Rostam Hobbs never told anyone about the dreams.

He'd been on track to make Chief Engineer of the New Horizon space station … before the dreaming interrupted his sleep patterns. Before the miscalculation that nearly froze the entire west residence wing into a block of ice. Before he’d been reassigned to a junk-bucket scout ship to get lost in some godforsaken corner of space.

Dreamers were supposed to have been identified and utilized by the time they hit puberty, and he’s well past that. Maybe they wouldn’t take him now, given his age, but he doesn’t dare chance being found out. Most people are blissfully unaware that Dreamers even exist. But he works in Engineering. He knows everything about Dreamers.

And on a ship this small on a mission this long, it’s getting harder and harder to hide …

J. R. Frontera proves in this tale of the future that a mind belonging to the glory days of the Twilight Zone still puts pen to page. This brilliantly written, very meaty science fiction thriller short will have you jumping out of your chair -- literally -- and when it's over, you'll be haunted by the results....

DREAMERS is a science fiction thriller short story, and here is what some readers are saying about it

"All great stories leave you thinking about plot points for days (or weeks) later. They make you question the world around you and your perceptions. They have intriguing characters and unexpected twists and turns. This is one of those stories. In just a few short pages you will forever be a fan of J.R. Frontera." -- Tiffiney, 5 star review

“You have a fantastic voice–and I am simultaneously horrified and fascinated by the fact [spoiler]!!!” — Reece Hanzon, Managing Editor at Jolly Fish Press

“Oh, crap! This is amazing! I will think about a coherent review! Wow! Amazing! This is the work of a seasoned author!!!” — Pat Stevens, Advanced Reader volunteer

"... freaking amazing! I just can't stop thinking about it!! Can you make it a series!?!?" --- Vicky Meyer, Advanced Reader volunteer

"I jumped out of my chair. Literally. I jumped out of my chair and yelled "Oh no!" at the story." -- 5 star review

"This starts out so interesting, immersing the reader into another world. There was enough technical garb to feel real while not making me feel dumb, which I seriously appreciate! The characters were both interesting and distinct. I definitely cared about the main character which made the ending HUGE! Worth the read!" -- Ashley Wyrick, 5 star review

Dreamers A Short Story edition by J R Frontera Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks

Dreamers explores a fascinating concept in the science fiction genre. It is written with enough details to fill the story out perfectly, and enough left unexplained to leave me wanting more! I would love to read an expanded version of this story.

Dreamers A Short Story edition by J R Frontera Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

This was a pretty good story. It caught my interest right from the beginning. Unfortunately I did figure out how it would end. I'd definitely read more from this author. Recommended.
Wonderful, well written, but too short. I would like to read more from J.R. Frontera. Try Dreamers for yourself today.
Not a bad story. The characters and dialog are well-written. I know it was a short story, but I could have used some world building.
So I'm not much of a fictional reader but came across this and thought I'd give it a read. With it being short, and me not being a huge reader I thought it was a good fit. Plus the image had me intrigued. It is actually really good and kept my interest. That's saying a lot because my attention span is least to be desired. So it starts off a little slow but then It pulls you in and wish there were more chapters to read! All in all, great story line and could be turned into a longer story if J.R Frontera wanted to expand, which I hope he/she does!
People are thought to be defective if they dream. They are decovered very young. What happens if they miss you when you're young? Will you still be put down? Can they do this?????
Flying in space on a scout ship through the mind of engineer Rostam Hobbs, I contemplated how such travel might take place in the future and how humans might organize themselves and place value on different human attributes. The story led me on Hobbs’ quests to redeem himself, find innovative solutions, and try to get some sleep. Frontera provides food for thought in an interesting story. I appreciate how her stories leave me thinking about possibilities. Her depiction of being sleep-deprived is spot on. I like her vivid descriptions, especially in the last chapter.
The best way to describe the story in a manner that does not reveal anything is to say "J. R. Frontera proves in this tale of the future that a mind belonging to the glory days of the Twilight Zone still puts pen to page." The characters are drawn to exactly the level of detail the story requires, and still are drawn with an efficiency of brushstroke almost reminiscent of Japanese screen painting, the subject richly illustrated, and the background very much there, but not distracting in any way from the focus.

Treat yourself to a great little read, and give this story a go.
